TAIWAN

• Foreign special professionals who plan to work in Taiwan can apply to National Immigration Agency for 4-in-1 employment gold card which includes work permit, resident visa, Alien Resident Certificate and re-entry permit.

• The Employment Gold Card is valid for 1-3 years.

• Employment Gold Card holders who meet certain conditions may apply for an extension within 4 months before the expiration date of their card, for a maximum of 3 years each time.

• You do not need to have  secured a job in Taiwan before you apply

• You must meet one of the criteria in one of the following fields:

  • Science & Technology​

    • Have unique skills in R&D, design or innovation

    • Hold international awards or national academy membership

    • Have special expertise or knowledge in cutting-edge fields such as nanotech, and AI among others​

  • Economy

    • Have held a high-level position in an R&D center, operations HQ, or multinational corporation

    • Possess important skills required for a key industry product or service model

    • Have held a  cross-disciplinary position in specialized industries such as semiconductor or optoelectronics​

  • Education

    • Hold a PhD from a top 500 universities

    • Have taught or researched at a top 500 universities for 3+ years

    • Have received a grant or award from the Yushan Fellow Program

    • Have taught at a educational institute for 5+ years​

  • Culture & Arts

    • Have won international awards or achieved outstanding distinction in performing arts, visual arts, publishing, etc.​

  • Sport

    • Have placed in the top 6 of an international sports competition

    • Have served as a national team coach or a referee for an international sports competitions

    • Have the potential to contribute to Taiwan’s sports industry​

  • Finance

    • Have held a specialist post or served in a senior executive position in a financial institution

    • Have been recommended by a relevant association

    • Possess financial expertise needed in an important sphere of industry promoted by the government (such as fintech or e-commerce)​

  • Law

    • Have obtained a TW or foreign attorney license, with a minimum monthly salary of NTD 160,000

    • Hold or have held a faculty position at a foreign university

    • Hold or have held a law related executive position in a law firm or corporation

    • Have been recommended by the Taiwan Bar Association​

  • Architecture

    • Have obtained a TW or foreign architect’s license, or have 5+ years experience as a designer or construction supervisor in a foreign architecture firm with a minimum monthly salary of NTD 160,000​

  • National Defense

    • Have 5+ years experience in national defense related fields​

  • Digital

    • Have served as qualified workers in software development, IT services, gaming software and e-commerce​

First time application

• US passport holders (apply outside TW) : NTD 7,420 (1 year validity); NTD 8,420 (2 year validity); NTD 9,420 (3 year validity)

• Foreign passport holders (apply outside TW) : NTD 3,700 (1 year validity); NTD 4,700 (2 year validity); NTD 5,700 (3 year validity)

• Foreign passport holders (apply while in TW on visitor visa: NTD 3,700 (1 year validity); NTD 4,700 (2 year validity); NTD 5,700 (3 year validity)

• Valid ARC holders: NTD 1,500 (1 year validity); NTD 2,500 (2 year validity); NTD 3,500 (3 year validity)

• Hong Kong or Macau residents: NTD 3,100 (flat rate)

Visa Renewal

• Non-Hong Kong or Macau residents: NTD 1,500 (1-year extension); NTD 2,500 (2-year extension); NTD 3,500 (3-year extension)

• Hong Kong or Macau residents: NTD 800 (flat rate)
